Tamara-Anna Cislowska is one of Australia’s most acclaimed and recognised pianists. Soloist and chamber music specialist, she performs in Australia and internationally to critical and public acclaim. Tamara has won international prizes in London, Italy and Greece, including the Rovere d’Oro, and in Australia, ABC Young Performer of the Year, Freedman Fellowship, an Art Music Award for ‘Performance of the Year’ (ACT) and the 2015 ARIA for ‘Best Classical Album’ for her landmark recording of Peter Sculthorpe’s complete piano works.
A frequent guest of orchestras and festivals worldwide, Tamara has performed as soloist with the London Philharmonic, the New Zealand, Christchurch and Auckland Philharmonia orchestras and all Australian Symphony Orchestras, and toured Japan and the USA as cultural ambassador for Australia. An acclaimed recording artist with three ARIA no.1 albums, recent engagements include Perth International Arts Festival, Canberra International Music Festival, touring and recording for the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and performances of her solo album, Unsent Love Letters: meditations on Erik Satie for ABC Classics and Deutsche Grammophon. A regular presenter on ABC Classic FM radio, Tamara also edits for Boosey & Hawkes (Berlin).
As one of Australia’s foremost contemporary composers, widely acknowledged and awarded around the world, Elena Kats-Chernin’s colourful, vibrant and uplifting music featured at the opening ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and the 2003 Rugby World Cup. She has received many prestigious prizes such as the Helpmann, Limelight, Sounds Australian, and Sydney Theatre Awards and an Individual Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award (2013). Attracting commissions from the world’s leading opera, ballet, and theatre companies including Komische Oper Berlin, her concerto for eight double basses, The Witching Hour, commissioned and premiered by the Australian World Orchestra is a finalist in the 2017 Art Music Awards. Composer-in-Residence with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2017, Kats-Chernin’s latest album for ABC Classics, Unsent Love Letters, played by Tamara-Anna Cislowska, reached no. 1 on the ARIA and iTunes charts and is available on Deutsche Grammophon internationally.
