Dave Lowe

Dave Lowe is a top selling musical performance artist and internationally renowned cellist who has a professional career spanning forty years and has travelled the world performing in all corners of the globe. Born in Kenya and hailing from a family with a rich legacy in show business, Dave began playing the cello at the age of 6,within sound of the roar of lions and wildlife of the Serengheti Plains. Home was a colourful mix of musical instruments and firearms during Kenya`s wild colonial days.

About his Career

Dave`s early career was centred in Australian

ABC orchestras including as principal `cello for the

Australian Opera and Ballet in Melbourne. In the

late 1970`s he moved to London playing in major

international orchestras notably The London

Symphony Orchestra ,and English Chamber

Orchestra, as well as playing solo `cello for

numerous Hollywood motion pictures, operas,

classical recordings, West End musicals and for

countless pop music icons. He was also solo

`cellist for the World acclaimed production ” Every

Good Boy Deserves Favour” for Andre Previn and

Tom Stoppard in London.

Dave has worked with numerous music icons,

such as Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir

Cameron Mackintosh(CATS Sydney) who all

praised his solo playing, composer legends Henry

Mancini, and Gus Dudgeon(Elton John`s MD) as

well as pop legends  including Sir Elton John,

David Essex Cliff Richard, Elaine Page and Petula

Clark. Many opera and classical stars including

Pavarotti, Sutherland and Bonynge were also

concerts.

London`s Golden hey days of the 1980-90`s also

brought studio work as a member of London`s

elite session musicians working in the famous

Abbey road studios amongst others .Here

blockbuster films such as Superman and The

Omen Trilogy were amongst a huge array of films

recorded.

About his Work

Dave’s passion for playing the cello across all

music genres is brought to life in his albums. His

albums are being released internationally through

MGM Digital and in Britain he ran his own label

“Safari in Classics”. This label created a national

fan base in Britain and many countries which Dave

took back with him to Australia, his homeland, after

relocating there in 2012.

His Five current albums cover Classical including

Mozart, Haydn, Puccini; Film Classics themes

such as Gladiator, Dances with Wolves and The

Deerhunter; West-End musicals including CATS

and Les Miserables; Popular music from Sting,

The Beatles, Adele, Eric Clapton and much more!

These current releases across Australia are top

sellers via EMI Universal on Fanfare Label

(Ambition Entertainment) and are available from

ABC Shops JB HiFi, Sanity, and all good music

stores. The hugely successful Readers Digests

catalogue (Australia/Asia) also now lists current

albums.

 

Now based in Australia and in demand for

appearances, Dave also appears regularly on ABC

Classic FM and National radio, performs around

Australia and also provides performance seminars

about his professional career and encounters in the

music world across four decades of colourful

encounters and experiences!
